Lara, Victoria, Australia - Sport and Sporting FacilitiesAussie Hoops (Basketball for Children)Run by Basketball Geelong, an introductory program for primary school aged children for basketball, with weekly coaching to learn the skills of the game through appropriately modified activities and rules. The program runs from the 2nd week of each school term for 8 weeks. First time participants: $60 including coaching, certificate, insurance, backpack, T-shirt, basketball, sweatband and drink bottle; returning participants: $35 including coaching, certificate and insurance. Baseball in Geelong Junior teams compete on Saturday mornings during the winter season in under 10, 12, 14 and 16 age groups with all girls and boys welcome. Last updated 20 February 2008 Lara Basketball ClubLara Basketball Club fields number of teams competing in the Geelong Amateur Basketball Association summer and winter competitions, including junior boys and girls and senior men's and women's teams. New players are welcome in all age groups for both boys and girls. Beginners are welcome as basic skills will be taught as well as advanced skills to the more experienced players. Age groups are from Under 10 to Under 18 as well as Senior men's and women's teams. Last updated Oct 2010 Lara Calisthenics CollegeThe Lara Calisthenics College consists of young girls from the age of 3 years to mature women, and boys up to the age of 12, and welcomes new members. Calisthenics is a unique blend of sport and art, incorporating elements of dance, gymnastics, singing, acting, marching, apparatus technique and performance skills. In 2003, the College enjoyed success with their Sub Juniors and Intermediates becoming Reserve State Champions, and the club winning overall runners up at the Barwon Calisthenics competitions, also competing in Melbourne, Warrnambool and Ballarat. It fields five senior teams in the Geelong Cricket Association, ten junior teams in U11/13 (Friday night), U13, U15, U17 (Saturday morning), plus Milo Cricket program for 5-9 year olds on Friday evenings over summer. The FIDA Cats also provides an opportunity for intellectually disabled people to play AFL football. The club welcomes volunteers who are willing to fulfil the role of coach, team coordinator or trainer. The Little League runs under 10 and under 12 competitions and an AFL Auskick Clinic at the Lara Sporting Club, Mill Road, Lara. Junior teams are entered in under 11, 13, 15 and 17 age groups, whilst senior teams compete in A, B and C grade. Home games are played at the Lara Netball Courts, located at Lara Secondary College.
