Aussie Hoops (Basketball for Children)

Run by Basketball Geelong, an introductory program for primary school aged children for basketball, with weekly coaching to learn the skills of the game through appropriately modified activities and rules. The program runs from the 2nd week of each school term for 8 weeks. First time participants: $60 including coaching, certificate, insurance, backpack, T-shirt, basketball, sweatband and drink bottle; returning participants: $35 including coaching, certificate and insurance.

Elcho Park Golf Club

Elcho Park Golf CourseElcho Park Golf Club is a section of the Lara Sporting Club. The golf course at Elcho Park is located just to the west of the Lara township in Elcho Rd, Lara. Weekend and weekday competitions are held, with clubrooms and a clubhouse golf pro shop. Lara Basketball Club

Lara Basketball Club fields number of teams competing in the Geelong Amateur Basketball Association summer and winter competitions, including junior boys and girls and senior men's and women's teams.

New players are welcome in all age groups for both boys and girls. Beginners are welcome as basic skills will be taught as well as advanced skills to the more experienced players. Age groups are from Under 10 to Under 18 as well as Senior men's and women's teams. Anybody interested in playing, coaching, sponsoring or contributing to the club is encourages to contact Rod 5282 1196.

Junior bowls (flat soled shoes, thongs, socks or barefoot): Mondays 3:45-5pm for ages 9 - 17.

Crackerjack Twilight bowls Wednesdays 5:45pm for 6pm. Cost: $4 adults; $2 juniors.

Lara Calisthenics College

The Lara Calisthenics College consists of young girls from the age of 3 years to mature women, and boys up to the age of 12, and welcomes new members. Calisthenics is a unique blend of sport and art, incorporating elements of dance, gymnastics, singing, acting, marching, apparatus technique and performance skills. In 2003, the College enjoyed success with their Sub Juniors and Intermediates becoming Reserve State Champions, and the club winning overall runners up at the Barwon Calisthenics competitions, also competing in Melbourne, Warrnambool and Ballarat. The Lara Cricket Club forms the cricket section of the Lara Sporting Club. It fields five senior teams in the Geelong Cricket Association, ten junior teams in U11/13 (Friday night), U13, U15, U17 (Saturday morning), plus Milo Cricket program for 5-9 year olds on Friday evenings over summer.

Lara Football Club

The Lara Football Club forms the football section of the Lara Sporting Club, Lara Football Club fields teams in the GFL and the VCFL with both senior and junior teams including under-18, under-16, under-14 and probably younger age groups too. The FIDA Cats also provides an opportunity for intellectually disabled people to play AFL football. The club welcomes volunteers who are willing to fulfil the role of coach, team coordinator or trainer.

Lara Little League / Auskick

The Lara Little League forms a section of the Lara Sporting Club. The Little League runs under 10 and under 12 competitions and an AFL Auskick Clinic at the Lara Sporting Club, Mill Road, Lara. Lara Lake Little Athletics Club

The Lara Lake Little Athletics Club participates in meets conducted by the Corio Little Athletics Centre at the redeveloped Goldsworthy Reserve. Lara Netball Club

The Lara Netball Club forms the netball section of the Lara Sporting Club, the club has a number of teams in the Corio and Life Be In It competitions, as well as the GFL competition. Junior teams are entered in under 11, 13, 15 and 17 age groups, whilst senior teams compete in A, B and C grade. Home games are played at the Lara Netball Courts, located at Lara Secondary College. Lara Sporting Club

Lara Sporting ClubThe Lara Sporting Club incorporates several sections - Baseball, Cricket, Football, Little League, Netball, and Soccer. The club has over 800 playing members and 1000 members in total. The Lara Sporting Club has a new football oval, with two other ovals used for cricket, baseball, soccer and softball. The club also has access to the Lara Primary and Secondary School netball courts for their junior and senior netballers.

Membership of the Lara Sporting Club offers access to the Members' Sports Bar, bistro, TAB and gaming room, discounts on meals and drinks, free entry to GFL and GCA games, and a range of other benefits.

Lara Tennis Club has some nice looking tennis courts, with hard court, clay and asphalt surfaces, which are available to the public for hire. There are competitions held for both juniors and seniors, running in both summer and winter, including weekend, weekday and weeknight competitions. Lara Swimming Club

Lara Swimming PoolThe Lara Swimming Club uses Lara's 50 metre swimming pool located in Bank St, Lara, which is open for use during the warmer months of the year. Winter training is held in the heated pool at Norlane Waterworld. The swimming club is open to those interested in competitive swimming or others just keen to keep fit.

The Lara Swimming Club also runs Learn to Swim classes on Saturday mornings through the summer season starting in November, and Family Fun Day and Biathlon events.
